The British heavyweight doubled down on his provocative remarks about being prepared to “kill” Jake Paul during a news conference in Florida on Wednesday.

These statements were initially uttered on Tuesday when Joshua was asked if he would show restraint against the social media star, replying that “if I can kill you, I'll kill”.

The upcoming bout against the internet personality turned fighter has attracted debate over safety concerns and the physical disparity between the two fighters.

Tyson Fury Labels Joshua a “Disgrace”

Former titleholder The Gypsy King labeled Joshua a “disgrace” for his inflammatory language.

But Joshua, explained his position: “It's my job, we fight. We have a licence to kill.

“I understand many people don't grasp it but this is what my job is. I just enjoy what I do. Whatever happens, happens - provided that my hand is held high, that's what's important, with all due respect.”

He stated, “That's just the mindset we have to have as boxers. I don't know if other fighters think that way. Maybe they're a bit more tame. The way my mind works. When you're in the squared circle, it's a perilous thing. Anything can happen.”

“You hope your opponent exits the ring in good health, but if they don't, you still have to go to bed knowing you just did your job. It wasn't personal.”

Paul's Incendiary Retort

Jake Paul, a huge underdog in the fight as a natural cruiserweight, was equally combative in his reply.

“This is a modern day combat sport,” Paul said. “I'm ready. I want his hardest punches. I want there to be zero excuses when it's all over. Let's kill each other.”
